Nandi Hills (60 kms via Devanahalli):

Nandi Hills About 60kms from Bangalore by road or rail, is Nandi Hill, 4850 feet above sea level. It is a well-known resort. There is a motarable road to the top of the hill. There is a gairly extensive plateau with a garden.A well known summer-resort. Tipu's Drop is an attraction here. There are well furnished bungalows for lodging and good catering establishments. Shivaganga (60 kms from Bangalore via Tumkur Road):

Perched atop a most interestingly-shaped 500-metre hil,Shivaganga is a well-known pilgrim centre with temples dedicated to Gangadhara and Honnadevi. There is a fresh water spring called Pathala Ganga. Regular KSRTC buses are available from Tumkur (20 kms) and Bangalore.

Mekedatu (Goat's Leap) (98 kms via Kanakapura Road):

MekedatuThe river Arkavathi flows through a deep gorge. The Sangameshwara temple is at the confluence(sangam) of the river Arkavathi and Cauvery. The river flows in a ravine over which a goat can easily leap. Hence the name Mekedatu.

Bannerghatta National Park (20 kms from Bangalore via Anekal Road):

The park has over 100 species of birds,a crocodile farm,a serpentarium,a pet's corner,a deer park,pre-historic animal park and a curio shop.Visitors can tour the park in vehicles and watch the animals from close quarters.Noted for its picturesque scenery and its temple. Ghati Subramanya 52 kms via Doddaballapur (17 kms) Nearest railway station is Makali Durga on the Bangalore - Guntakal line: The famous temple of Lord Subramanya is situated here.

Devarayanadurga 79 kms from Bangalore via Tumkur (16 kms):

A hill resort, at the foot of the hill there is a natural water spring. There is an artificial lake that spreads over nearly 1000 acres. The Indo-Danish Dairy project and Government Horticultural and dairy farms are located here. Accommodation : Traveller's Bungalow under BWSSB, Bangalore.

Muthyala Maduvu (Pearl Valley) (44 kms via Brigade Road-Hosur Road-Anekal-Pearl Valley):

A picnic spot with a waterfall which is 300ft. high. There is a Traveller's Bungalow 6 kms from Anekal Town on the Hosur Road. For reservations contact Block Development Officer, Anekal.

Savanadurga (58 kms via Magadi Road):

A hill fortress which was the hideout of Kempe Gowda. There is a temple dedicated to Narasimhaswamy. Accomodation is available at the Traveller's Bungalow. An interesting picnic spot. There is a big banyan tree, the branches of which are spread over three acres.A KSTDC Restaurant is situated alongside.
