The
IT Policy for the state
of Karnataka is investor friendly.
Consequently, Karnataka is have Software
Technology Parks in Bangalore, Mysore and Manipal. STPI,
set up in 1991 in Bangalore, has been largely
responsible for making Bangalore
the IT capital of India. A recent
survey shows that Bangalore has attracted
a whopping investment of Rs 10000 Crores this
year.
The
IT leaderships and initiatives has only
helped further this cause. When taking
into consideration all the nicknames
which have been bestowed upon Bangalore over
the years, like the air-conditioned
city, pub-city, the garden city and so
on, the name Silicon Valley of
India seems most apt, as there have
been over 700 major software companies making this
their home.
The
Government of Karnataka's commitment to
IT is unflinching. The Government proposes
to announce that Rs.300 crores
will be raised by floating Mahithi
Bonds. The proceeds of
the bonds will be
utilised for human resources
development- training in schools, ITIs, Polytechnics, Colleges,
Pharmacy and Engineering Colleges. The training centres
for uneducated youth- Incubation Centres, earth
stations, IT Parks and Communication Infrastructure,
etc. The money will be used based on the
action plan suggested by the high
powered IT task force. We expect
enthusiastic response for the Karnataka
Mahithi bonds from IT companies, ITprofessionals,
ITES , Trade and Industry as well as people of Karnataka.
