FOOTBALL

Bangalore Football                                   Football or Soccer is one game which is played all round the globe and is by far the most popular game of the universe.Altough football in India is very popular, our standard of football is ordinary as compared to that of the world. This can be gauged by the fact that we have not qualified for the World Cup even once.In fact we are lagging far behind in the Asian scene too. What makes it look worse is that all the TV viewers get to see the best European teams playing in the best leagues telecast live and that makes our football look more banal.A country of our size and magnitude can't produce a single footballer of world standards is appalling(with due respects to Bhaichung Bhutia). The main reason is the poor infrastructure of football in the country.Altough the long awaited National league is a step in the right direction, there are still lots of loopholes after two years of its advent. The standard of football is mostly gauged by the football played in the National league and more the money is pumped in to attract foreign players and coaches, more the standard will improve and we all football fanatics of the country can dream of one day qualifying for the World Cup.Football in Bangalore is played with a lot of enthusiasm all across the city and this can be seen by the crowds that show up to cheer the local outfit ITI whenever they play their home fixtures of the National League. The local Senior division league too attracts lots of crowd and all the matches are very competitive. After Bengal,Goa and Kerala it can be said that Karnataka is the next state where most of the country's football is played. The game in the city is managed by the Bangalore District Football Association(B.D.F.A) which is affiliated to the Indian Football Association. The BDFA has its own stadium which is the venue for most of the football activities in the city.
